The Toronto Blue Jays can breathe a sigh of relief regarding Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Before Tuesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, manager John Schneider provided a promising injury update for the $500 million slugger.

"Vladimir Guerrero Jr's hamstring MRI revealed 'just inflammation, which is good' manager John Schneider said," according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic on X. "Unlikely available tonight (Tuesday) but could return in the next few days."

This is the best-case scenario for the Blue Jays as they can't afford to have their star athlete. They are just five games ahead of the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees going into the final weeks of the regular season. Toronto can afford to have Guerrero Jr. watch for a few days before he returns to the field.

Inflammation is generally a day-to-day injury that players often experience throughout long seasons like baseball. The Blue Jays know hamstring injuries can quickly develop into more serious injuries, so they won't take any chances with him.

Given how strong and well-rounded the Blue Jays are this season, they shouldn't need Guerrero Jr. to polish off the final two games of this series against the Pirates because the talent gap between the teams is very noticeable.

While Bannon did not provide an exact timeline fans could see Guerrero return, it's likely he will make his way back either this weekend against the Miami Marlins or early next week against the Minnesota Twins. It's a huge sigh of relief for the Blue Jays either way.
