The Toronto Blue Jays have been without shortstop Bo Bichette since Sept. 6 due to a knee injury, and the goal is to survive in the postseason until he is able to return.

Bichette took a big step forward on Wednesday ahead of Game 4 at Yankee Stadium.

"News: Bo Bichette is here jogging on the field at Yankee Stadium, Keegan Matheson wrote on X. "Very light, but this is the first we’ve seen. He still didn’t look very comfortable walking back to the dugout."

While it is only a jog and Bichette did look uncomfortable going back to the dugout, it's a sign of progress that he jogged. The Blue Jays have stated before a timetable for his return won't even be created until he is able to run.

"Until Bichette is running, no amount of swinging or throwing will amount to much," Matheson wrote for MLB.com on Sept. 29. "The moment Bichette can prove he’s able to run, he’ll be kicking down the door to Schneider’s office, trying to write his own name on the lineup card."

If the veteran shortstop takes the quickest recovery path possible, the earliest he would likely take the field is Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, but even that is pushing it. Of course, it also depends on the Blue Jays not being eliminated between Game 4 on Wednesday and a possible Game 5 on Friday.

Nonetheless, it's still an encouraging sign for Toronto to see him doing more than walking.
