The Toronto Blue Jays are the top seed in the American League and are awaiting their opponent in the postseason. The first-round bye has given the team some time to evaluate Bo Bichette.

Bichette had a great bounce-back season after struggling last year. He hit .311 with an .840 OPS and 18 home runs. The Blue Jays will play the winner of the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox series, but may not have Bichette.

Bichette has not played since Sept. 6, sidelined with a knee injury. There is no word on when his targeted return is, but Vladimir Guerrero spoke on the injury and hinted at Bichette missing the American League Division Series.

"We miss him. He knows we miss him," Guerreo told MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. "This is God’s plan. Whatever God has for us, we’ve got to take. I hope we win this series and he comes back for the next one.”

Manager John Schneider told Matheson that Bichette has not started running yet, but his hitting and throwing have gone well. Obviously, the Blue Jays would love to have Bichette on the field when they take on one of their division rivals, but if he cannot run, he may become a liability.

However, if the Blue Jays can get him to a place where the team is comfortable using him as a designated hitter, it could create some interesting situations. However, despite Schneider keeping the door open, Guerrero spoke as if the team would need to win a series without Bichette if they wanted him to play again this year.
