The Toronto Blue Jays have had a stellar offseason, but their moves have essentially left no room to bring Chris Bassitt back in free agency.
Adding Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce to the starting rotation likely sets the Blue Jays to feature those two, Shane Bieber, Kevin Guasman and Trey Yesavage in the rotation. They also have depth in José Berríos, Eric Lauer, Bowden Francis and Ricky Tiedemann.
Bassitt should be able to find a new team by opening day, but perhaps teams are waiting on other arms to decide where they go before pulling the trigger on Bassitt. Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter predicted the Detroit Tigers would land Bassitt.

Bassitt could slot in as the No. 3 starter for the Tigers, who lost Game 5 of the American Division Series last season. They have Tarik Skubal as their ace and may feel pressure to surround him with more talent in his final year before free agency. With Jack Flaherty behind him, Bassitt could end up being a great addition.
Skubal, Flaherty and Bassitt are a solid trio to give the ball to in October. Bassitt had a 3.96 ERA in 32 games last season, but was moved to the bullpen in the postseason. He allowed one run in seven outings as a reliever in the postseason. He worked 8 2/3 innings in relief in the postseason, but he still figures to land a job as a starter.
Bassitt could be a cheaper addition than other pitchers still available in free agency. The Tigers may see next seaosn as their final chance to make a run with Skubal on the team, so adding an experienced arm like Bassitt could be beneficial and not break the bank.
