The Chicago Cubs are entering this offseason with questions regarding their outfield, as Ian Happ and Seiya Suzuki are both free agents.

Due to this, the Cubs are now being connected to a top MLB trade candidate from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In a recent article for CBS Sports, Dayn Perry named the Cubs among the top potential trade fits for Dodgers star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez this offseason.

"On another level, the Dodgers want to make space for elite prospect Josue De Paula to receive regular playing time, and there aren't any other paths to it. That may mean Hernandez will be on the move," Perry wrote. "Potential fits: Phillies, Cubs, Mariners."

Questions about Hernandez's future with the Dodgers have come up for a good amount of time now. With this, it would be understandable if the Cubs considered making a push for him this offseason. This would especially be the case if they are unable to re-sign Happ and Suzuki this offseason.

If the Cubs acquired Hernandez from the Dodgers, he would give them another star hitter to work with. In 125 games this season for Los Angeles, the 11-year MLB veteran posted 16 home runs, 64 RBI, and a .267 batting average. He also hit at least 25 home runs from 2021 to 2025, so he can provide some serious pop when playing at his best.

With that, it would make all the sense in the world for Chicago to target Hernandez this offseason. It will be intriguing to see if they can land him from the Dodgers this offseason from here.
