The Chicago Cubs are making it known that they are keeping an eye on all options out on the starting pitching market.
Just a day after it was reported that Chicago is extremely interested in Miami Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera, more rumors are beginning to swirl.
According to George Ofman, the Cubs are reportedly "keeping an eye" on Boston Red Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito.

Giolito signed a two-year contract with the Red Sox prior to last season but was forced to miss all of last year recovering from Tommy John Surgery.
His return to the mound this season has gone quite well, as after his start on Wednesday, Giolito is now 6-1 with a 3.36 ERA and 64 strikeouts across 13 starts and 72 1/3 innings pitched.
Giolito's last six starts especially have been outstanding. He is 5-0 with a 0.70 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings during the stretch, including one start that saw him pitch into the eighth inning for the first time this season.
Giolito is no stranger to Chicago, as he spent six of the first seven seasons of his career with the Chicago White Sox.
He saw some success with the White Sox, as shown by his 4.20 career ERA with the team. He had some great moments in Chicago as well, headlined by the only no-hitter of his career during the 2020 season.
Recent injuries and struggles from the Cubs rotation would indicate that a starting pitcher may be at the top of their trade deadline wish list. We've now heard Chicago is interested in Mitch Keller, Cabrera and now Giolito.
It is appearing more and more likely that the Cubs will certainly have a new arm in their rotation following the trade deadline.
