The Los Angeles Dodgers signing Toronto Blue Jays free agent Bo Bichette appeared to have gained momentum last week. But that quickly changed Monday, when the Philadelphia Phillies held a second meeting with the star infielder.

Dodgers Nation's Doug McKain gave three key reasons why the defending champions likely won't be signing Bichette.

"I think in the last 24-48 hours, the Dodgers' chances of signing Bo Bichette have gone from like 40 percent to 30 percent to 20 percent to keeps going down," McKain said on Dodgers Dougout Live. "It looked like there was some momentum earlier in the week, and now it looks like that has completely fizzled. It came out that Bo Bichette and the Phillies are going to have a meeting. Phillies players are trying to recruit him.

"He's looking for $300 million and you haven't seen that report confirmed from by multiple insiders. But if there's any truth that Bo Bichette is looking for a deal at the $300 million, then in the words of the great Randy Jackson, that's a no from me dog."

More news: Kyle Tucker Joining Dodgers Could Impact Teoscar Hernandez

The Dodgers seem to be taking a firm stance in their preference to sign free agents to short-term deals this winter. LA was not the favorite to land baseball's best closer, but managed to steal Edwin Diaz anyway with a three-year, $69 million deal.

Aside from the Diaz deal, the Dodgers have mainly focused on depth options signing veteran infielder Miguel Rojas to a one-year deal and recently-DFA'd Andy Ibañez from the Detroit Tigers also to a one-year contract.

However, the Dodgers could be making another big splash soon as they were named frontrunners in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes over the weekend. The Blue Jays and New York Mets are also considered the favorites to land the star outfielder.

As spring training quickly approaches, the Dodgers roster already fares quite well. Adding a big name free agent like Tucker would once again cement LA as World Series favorites heading into 2026.
