The Los Angeles Dodgers could have a new member of their bullpen sooner rather than later.

"The Minnesota Twins are expected to trade closer Jhoan Duran by the end of the day with the Los Angeles Dodgers in strong pursuit," Nightengale wrote on X. "The Twins have also been in heavy discussions with the Phillies but have not lowered their asking price of prized pitching prospect Andrew Painter."
If the Phillies are balking at the idea of trading Painter, then the race for Duran is the Dodgers' race to lose. Duran is one of the best closers in baseball with a 2.01 ERA through 49 appearances so far this season for the Twins.
The Dodgers have been connected to the Twins bullpen for several weeks as they were eyeing up both Duran and Griffin Jax. Andrew Friedman won't want to sit around and wait too long for this deal, so it seems like Duran could be on his way out.
Perhaps Duran's bullpen hugs in Tuesday's game weren't just a coincidence?
Duran has 2 1/2 years of team control left, per Spotrac, so the Dodgers would have to cough up a significant return back to Minnesota. However, Los Angeles has had bullpen issues all season with injuries and poor performances, so shipping off a few prospects may be worth it in the long run.
