Los Angeles Dodgers superstar pitcher Tarik Skubal is this year's top pending free agent.

The Dodgers are undoubtedly going to work hard to keep Skubal around. However, with the back-to-back Cy Young Award winner being right in his prime, it would not be too surprising if he opted to hear what other offers are out there on the free agent market.

Now, with the start of free agency getting closer, Skubal is being linked to a very surprising team.

In a recent article for The Athletic, Jim Bowden named the Chicago White Sox among the best free agent fits for Skubal.

Tarik Skubal #29 of the Los Angeles Dodgers pitches against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Dodger Stadium on August 22, 2026 in Los Angeles, California.

The White Sox being viewed as a potential landing spot for Skubal is certainly intriguing. The White Sox are not known as being big spenders like the Dodgers, New York Yankees, and New York Mets. However, it would make for a fantastic story if the White Sox shocked the baseball world and signed Skubal to a massive deal.

Bowden noted that Skubal is projected to make $300 million to $500 million based on how many years his next contract ends up being. This would be quite a high price for a team like the White Sox to pay, but perhaps they could be willing to do it for a superstar pitcher like Skubal.

With the White Sox being an exciting team on the rise that has plenty of promising young players, it would be game-changing if they signed Skubal this offseason. It will be interesting to see if they can stun the league by doing so from here.
