The San Francisco Giants had a brutal 2026 season, as they finished the campaign with a 65-97 record.
With how this season went for the Giants, they should be looking to strengthen their roster this offseason. Thus, it would not be terribly surprising if they are among the most active teams in free agency this winter.
The Giants would benefit from adding another impactful power hitter to the front half of their batting order. Due to this, they are now being connected to one of baseball's top free agents.

In a recent article for The Athletic, Jim Bowden named the Giants as the top fit for Pittsburgh Pirates star free agent Brandon Lowe.

With the Giants needing more offense, it would make a lot of sense if they pursued Lowe in free agency this year. The 32-year-old has shown over multiple seasons that he can be a real difference-maker with his power. Thus, he could help out a struggling San Francisco team immensely if they signed him.
Lowe posted 35 home runs, 96 RBI, and a .260 batting average in 150 games this season with the Pirates. This is after he recorded 31 home runs, 83 RBI, and a .256 batting average in 134 games with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2025. With numbers like these, the two-time All-Star would be a very good addition for a Giants club that wants to be much better in 2027. With that, the Giants should be watched closely in the Lowe sweepstakes.
