MLB recognized Francisco Lindor with one of the game's most prestigious honors, naming the New York Mets shortstop the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award winner.
Lindor received the humanitarian award given to the player who best represents MLB on and off the field. He became the fifth Puerto Rican-born player to land an accolade named after the late Puerto Rican icon.
The Mets celebrated Lindor's momentous achievement on social media.

"Representing the game of Baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field," the Mets wrote. "@Lindor12BC is the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award winner!"
They also shared a brief video narrated by Lindor that highlighted some of his philanthropic efforts.
"I'm all about bringing people together," Lindor said. "I'm all about bringing them to the next step, and learn from them as well."
Lindor has worked with the nonprofit organization Seen to help families with children navigating physical disability. He recently founded Lindor's Leaders, a development program at Bayside High School focused on mental health, communication, and teamwork to build community leaders.
Lindor has also hosted youth baseball clinics, provided backpacks and school supplies to hundreds of children each year, worked with organizations to support environmental efforts, and restored athletic facilities in his hometown of Caguas.

Lindor earned the major honor after finishing his 12th MLB season with his 300th career home run. It's the first time the five-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner has received the Roberto Clemente Award, though he was the Mets' nominee in each of the last four years.
"It’s a little bit surreal, you know?” Lindor said, per MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. "It’s bigger than baseball, in a way. Like, we are in the entertainment business, and we are there to bring smiles and joy to people, but also to carry it off the field to me is even cooler. So it’s something that I’ll forever continue to do."
