The Philadelphia Phillies are focused on trying to win a World Series right now, but they will soon have to make some key decisions in free agency.
Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto are both slated to hit free agency, but lost in the shuffle is Ranger Suárez. He was an All-Star last year, and many thought he was snubbed from the All-Star game this year.
He will be a free agent as well, and his price is rising with every start. He has played great for the Phillies since they learned Zack Wheeler would be out, allowing one earned run in his last four starts combined. Three of his last four starts have been quality starts.

With him playing so well, FanSided's Matt Grazel urged the Phillies to let him walk.

...
"Suárez is pitching well at the right time to help secure a spot in the Phillies' starting rotation for the playoffs," wrote Grazel. "If he has the opportunity to pitch in multiple contests during the playoffs and does well, that will help him even more in getting the contract he is seeking in free agency. It will also increase the likelihood of his deal getting more expensive, making it more certain that the Phillies don't re-sign him."
The Phillies will likely make Schwarber a priority this offseason. However, his asking price could put them out of many additional free-agent markets. Suárez has a 2.77 ERA this season and the Phillies are 15-8 when he takes the ball.
Losing him would be a huge blow, but it could open the door for Andrew Painter to start his era as a key member of the rotation.
