During an appearance on Abriendo Sports earlier this offseason, Vladimir Guerreo Jr. said he would be willing to negotiate an extension with the Toronto Blue Jays until Feb. 18, the first full day of spring training.
No extension has been signed, and CBS Sports' Matt Snyder predicted he would be playing for the Boston Red Sox in 2026 when asked where Guerrero would end up after his free agency. He noted that they just signed Alex Bregman, which makes adding Guerrero complicated, but it could still work.
"That said, let's say that Bregman either opts out or the Red Sox configure their infield differently (with either Trevor Story moving to second base with Bregman going to shortstop or Bregman moving to second base)," wrote Snyder. "This could still work. Maybe Triston Casas gets traded. I might be working too hard, but I like the fit. Given their deep pockets, the Red Sox still don't have a ton of long-term deals that would preclude them from being the highest bidder for Guerrero's services and his bat would age beautifully in Fenway Park."

Guerrero is a four-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger and Gold Glover. He will be the prize of next offseason if an extension is not reached. The Red Sox made a run at Juan Soto this offseason, and have the pockets to go after Guerrero.
Spotrac projects Guerrero to sign a 12-year, $427 million deal as a free agent. However, that number could skyrocket if he has another great year. He noted on Abriendo Sports that Juan Soto's deal changed the outlook of his deal. It would not be a surprise if Guerrero signed a deal that rivals Soto's 15-year, $765 million blockbuster with the New York Mets.
