The Boston Red Sox look to be serious contenders this season, which will likely result in them buying at the trade deadline.
Pitchers like Dylan Cease, Luis Castillo, and Sandy Alcántara could become available over the next few months. With names like that on the market, the Red Sox might need to part ways with a few top prospects to land one.
Heavy on MLB's Jay Pritchard recently predicted the Red Sox would use top infield prospect Franklin Arias as a trade piece this season.

"Even after a strong promotion to High-A, Arias is boxed out in Boston's system. Between Marcelo Mayer, Mikey Romero, and even Trevor Story holding down real estate, there's just no clean path forward," Pritchard wrote. "(Talk Sox's Alex) Mayes writes, 'The Red Sox would be foolish to not cash in' on Arias while his stock is climbing. He's talented — but he's expendable if it brings in big-league help."
When looking at the Red Sox farm system, Arias would be the clear top trade candidate. He's blocked by a plethora of infielders, including guys like Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell.
It's also important to note Arias is very valuable in a deal. He could be a huge piece of a trade that nets the Red Sox an ace at the trade deadline.
If Boston is going to chase some of the top names on the trade market, it's almost a guarantee Arias is included in the prospect return.
