The Los Angeles Dodgers have broken Major League Baseball.

The reigning back-to-back World Series champions already led MLB in All-Stars, but they went out and added another one in their quest to become just the third-ever team to three-peat.

ESPN's Jeff Passan broke the news on Saturday night, Aug. 1, that the Dodgers won the sweepstakes for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal.

"The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring Tarik Skubal for outfielder Zyhir Hope, right-hander River Ryan and right-hander Brady Smith, sources tell ESPN," Passan wrote.

By merely joining the Dodgers, Skubal made MLB history.

"For the first time in MLB history, a player who won MVP each of the previous 2 seasons (Shohei Ohtani) and a player who won the Cy Young each of the previous 2 seasons (Tarik Skubal) will play together on the same team," OptaSTATS relayed.

Last week, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported that the Dodgers' interest in trading for Skubal "increased due to questions surrounding Shohei Ohtani's availability to pitch," as Ohtani has been managing left knee inflammation for close to two months. He last pitched on July 3.

Skubal also had injury concerns earlier this season. He underwent surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow in May, but made a quick recovery and returned to the mound on June 13. Now, he will provide a steadying hand to the Dodgers' rotation.

Skubal is 7-5 with a 2.79 ERA and 0.91 WHIP on 116 strikeouts this season. He's scheduled to make his first Dodgers start against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
