After a rough 2026 season, the Detroit Tigers should be aggressive in free agency this offseason.

One of the Tigers' top needs is another impactful contact hitter. Because of this, the Tigers are being connected to one of baseball's top free agents.

In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Tim Kelly predicted that the Tigers will sign star free agent Luis Arraez to a two-year, $32 million contract this offseason.

"If the Tigers aren't content to hand the reins at second base to Hao-Yu Lee, Arraez could replace Torres and help them rebound from a disappointing 2026," Kelly wrote.

If the Tigers signed Arraez, he would undoubtedly give their offense a boost. While he does not provide much power, he is an elite contact hitter. Thus, he would have the potential to help Detroit's roster nicely if they successfully landed him.

Arraez's stats from this season show how good of a player he is. In 151 games split between the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies, he had six home runs, 64 RBI, and a .310 batting average. The three-time batting title winner has also had a .310 batting average or better in six out of his eight MLB seasons.

With numbers like these, the four-time All-Star would be a nice pickup for Detroit as they aim to bounce back in 2027.
