Things are heating up in Sacramento, and we’re not talking about what’s happening on the basketball court since the Kings couldn’t hit air if they dive bombed off a high-rise building – we mean when it comes to locker room tension.

While fans are both crying and loving watching rookie Darius Acuff Jr., especially after Saturday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, where he posted 38 points on 12-of-25 shooting with five rebounds and five assists. But it was his nine 3-pointers out of 14 attempts that put him in the history books and tied the NBA single-game rookie record and is the most ever by a teenager in the Kings franchise.

While everyone else seems impressive with the rookie’s history making skills, someone on the team allegedly is not thrilled.

According to Heavy Sports, center Domantas Sabonis couldn’t care less about Acuff Jr.’s playing style, which could push the Big out the door via a trade this season.

“Sabonis has some hope, because teams always need size, and if he’s not traded this season, he should be dealt off next summer,” Heavy reported. “The Kings have no interest in keeping him there, and he is not enthused about playing with a ball-dominant guard like Acuff.”

So many key stars have moved on from the Kings to perform on the big stage in the NBA Finals, including De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton and head coaches Mike Malone and Mike Brown. They’re sort of like the “Good Luck Chuck” of the NBA.

Since the team is a dismal 0-6 at the start of the season, it would make sense to move on from their star center, burn everything to the ground and build back up surrounding Acuff Jr.?

Why stray from the same method the front office has been using for the past six years? Oh right – because history has shown time and time again that it doesn’t work. Especially when it comes to the Kings front office.
