Once sitting at 23–12, the Los Angeles Lakers have cooled off, going just 6–7 over their last 13 games. Their most recent outing was a 112–100 loss at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks. Luka Dončić delivered a dominant performance with 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists, while LeBron James added 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. As a team, however, Los Angeles struggled from deep, shooting just 28.6% from three-point range and getting outscored by 18 points beyond the arc.

The Brooklyn Nets are dealing with similar issues, having dropped 13 of their last 15 games. Brooklyn briefly snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 109–99 home win over the Utah Jazz, but followed it with a historically lopsided 130–77 road loss to the Detroit Pistons. Drake Powell and Cam Thomas led the bench with 12 points apiece, while Nic Claxton was the only starter to score in double figures, finishing with 10 points. The Nets struggled mightily offensively, shooting just 32.9% from the field and 22.6% from three-point range in the loss.
