The incident occurred in the first quarter when Bulls rookie Noa Essengue collided with Towns as the Knicks big man attempted to navigate a screen.
Towns fell to the floor and appeared to hurt his left wrist or hand upon landing.
ClutchPoints reporter Brett Siegel provided an update on the situation, writing:
“Karl-Anthony Towns got knocked down to the floor while a Bulls’ defender attempted to fight through a screen and appeared to hurt his left wrist/hand upon landing.”
The Knicks soon received a boost when Towns returned to the game with his left wrist wrapped.
Siegel subsequently reported, “Seems like Towns is going to fight through here, as he’s back in the game.”
Head coach Mike Brown also offered an assessment after Towns returned to action. Brown noted:
"He was still shooting that thang from 30 feet..so the wrist looked OK to me," in a post-game conference.
Towns finished with 19 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in 28 minutes as New York secured a 133-127 victory over Chicago.
His return and productive performance were positive signs for a Knicks team relying on his scoring and rebounding alongside Jalen Brunson.
The Knicks are scheduled to face the Philadelphia 76ers next, making Towns' situation and status worth monitoring.
As of this writing, no confirmed long-term absence has been announced in the information available.
