Many are operating under the assumption that the upcoming NBA season could be the last for all-time great NBA superstar LeBron James.
James will turn 42 during his historic 24th NBA season, extending his record for the longest career in league history.
However, James' career may not be over at the end of the 2026-27 NBA season. During an interview with Boardroom on Monday, the free-agent superstar floated the idea of playing as many as three more NBA seasons.

“When I’m done, I’ll be 24, 25 years in? 26 years? Who knows, whatever when I’m done," James said. "There's no way I can fill that void [of playing basketball], but I can now focus myself on other things that I want to do."
A few weeks ago, James informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he intends to play the upcoming NBA season elsewhere. There's still no timetable for his decision as he continues to weigh his free-agent options.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly the frontrunners to land James. The Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves have also been reported as potential options.
In his eighth and final season with the Lakers last year, James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game.
