It’s not every day you see a player who has a history with arguing with officials suddenly turn around to protect one.
But that’s exactly what happened at the Golden 1 Center during the Los Angeles Lakers 116-103 win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
During the third quarter, Doncic was set to inbound the ball when he suddenly turned around to a man sitting courtside. The man had caught the ball on the previous play and tossed it at the official which hit her since she wasn’t expecting it. Doncic appeared to ask the fan aggressively “What the [explicit] are you doing?”

Afterward, Doncic started calling security over and pointing at the man.
The Slovenian point guard has had a, well, not so lovely relationship with officials and normally can be seen arguing with them in emotional ways during games, so this was all new.
When asked about the incident following the game, Doncic explained that the man had tossed the ball hard.
“He just tossed it really strong – the ball – toward the ref,” Doncic said. “I just asked him what the hell he was doing.”
The superstar scored 40 points for his sixth straight game and made six 3-pointers and 12 of 13 free throws. According to the Associated Press, Luka has “played in eight of Los Angeles’ nine games and has scored 308 points, becoming the first player to top 300 in his first eight games of the season since Michael Jordan had 303 in 1988-89.”
Lakers face off against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
