The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a painful collapse against the Golden State Warriors.

After building a 25-point lead, Los Angeles lost 112-95 at Chase Center. The defeat exposed concerns about the team's ability to maintain its level when its leading scorer is not on the floor.

Doncic finished with 37 points, seven rebounds and five assists. However, his teammates struggled to maintain the advantage as Golden State mounted its comeback.

The Warriors outscored Los Angeles in the fourth quarter, turning a comfortable position into a 17-point defeat.

After the game, Doncic was asked what it would take for the Lakers to develop into a great team. He acknowledged that the process would take time, particularly as several new players adjust to their roles.

“I don’t know what it’s going to take. Obviously reps, just playing these games. Warriors are a good example. They play hard defense, they shock a lot. So it was a good game for us. Not good because we lost, but it was good to practice those things. But I don’t know what it’s going to take. It’s going to take some time for sure. We got a lot of new guys. But I really like playing with these guys. So everybody can be better than this,” Doncic said.

Head coach JJ Redick shared a similar view about the team's development. He stressed that building a championship-level group cannot happen overnight.

“You don't become a great team in six games. We want to become a great team after 82 games,” Redick said.

Redick also pointed to the responsibility of Doncic's teammates when the star guard rests. He emphasized that the Lakers cannot rely on one player to carry them throughout every game.

“Unfortunately, Luka can't play all 48 minutes every night. It's on his teammates to keep the game even when he's resting,” Redick said.

The loss leaves Los Angeles with plenty to address. Doncic's message was clear. The Lakers have talent, but turning it into consistent winning basketball will take time.
