Tyrese Haliburton waited more than a year to get back on the court for the Indiana Pacers. Four games into his comeback, the waiting started all over again.

The All-Star point guard is out with a left hamstring strain, and Saturday’s game marks his sixth straight absence. He stayed in Indianapolis while the team flew to Mexico City to face the Denver Nuggets.

Before tipoff, head coach Rick Carlisle was asked about him. Indiana Pacers reporter Dustin Dopirak shared Carlisle’s answer on X.

Carlisle said Haliburton is doing well and has been using a hyperbaric chamber every day.

“He’s making great progress. I don’t know a timetable. … The timetable is uncertain,” Carlisle said.

So the news cuts both ways. Haliburton is heading in the right direction, but no one in Indiana is ready to put a date on his return.

On Oct. 28, after the team brought in a hamstring specialist, Carlisle called the strain mild and said Haliburton would be out for at least two weeks.

The timing hurts because Haliburton looked sharp. Back from the torn Achilles he suffered in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, he averaged 21.8 points and 9.5 assists in four games.

Fans also know this hamstring well. Haliburton strained the same leg in January 2024, then hurt it again that spring and sat out the last two games of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics.

Haliburton isn’t the only Pacer in the training room. Indiana used just six players in Monday’s loss to Atlanta before getting players back for a 107-103 win at Memphis on Wednesday.

After a 19-63 season without their floor general, the Pacers know how different they look with Haliburton running the offense. For now, the wait goes on.
