The injury woes that have plagued Kawhi Leonard's NBA career are already affecting his reunion with the Toronto Raptors.

On Tuesday morning, the team announced that Leonard is set to undergo treatment on his knee that will keep him off the court for at least one week.

"The Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday that forward Kawhi Leonard will undergo a treatment and rehabilitation program to address swelling in his left knee. Medical imaging revealed no acute injury, and Leonard will be evaluated in one week," the team wrote in a press release.

ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reports that this program could result in a multi-week absence for Leonard.

"Toronto's Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss a period of weeks due to swelling in his left knee, sources tell ESPN. MRI on Leonard's knee showed no structural damage, but sides will use the shorter term to ramp him back up after the stoppages during the offseason," Charania reports.

Leonard suddenly appeared on the injury report and was a late scratch for Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In his first two games to open up the 2026-27 NBA season, the veteran forward averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game in back-to-back wins.
