The Golden State Warriors era, as we've come to know it, has come to an end. Four-time NBA champion and sharpshooter Klay Thompson will join the Dallas Mavericks via sign and trade after 13 incredible seasons with the Warriors. Though the deal has not been official yet, Thompson will head to Texas after spending his entire NBA career in Golden State.

It's a day some thought we would never experience, especially Thomposon's running mate, fellow four-time NBA champion and future Hall of Famer Stephen Curry. Curry said goodbye to his fellow backcourt mate in a heartfelt message he shared via Instagram.

"Gonna miss you @klaythompson," Curry said. "Even though we won't finish the journey together, what we did will never be done again. Couldn't have imagined a better run with you and @moneyg23green. Changed the whole Bay Area. Changed the way the game is played. Killa Klay at the center of it all. Thank you for everything bro. Go enjoy playing basketball and doing what you do. Splash Bros 4 life my guy."

The things Curry and Thompson did together will never be duplicated. Along with their third running mate, Draymond Green, they built one of the most successful dynasties of the current era. Together, these three lead the Warriors to four NBA championships in the eight seasons from 2015 to 2022. On top of that, they changed the way the game is played as we know it today. They broke narratives that people thought would never be broken. They are arguably the greatest duo in the history of the game and, without a doubt, the greatest shooting duo we will ever see.
The end of the road is here, and Curry clearly has some strong emotions. When the Warriors were eliminated from play-in contention, Curry was asked about Thompson's pending free agency. Curry responded by saying he wanted to run it back with his longtime teammate.
"I could never see myself not with those two guys," Curry said of Thompson and Green. "I understand this league changes and there's so many things that go into it, and we're not going to play forever. But, we've experienced so much together, at the end of the day, I know they want to win, I know I want to win. That's all I'm worried about."
Curry still has Green by his side, but not having Thompson will be something we'd have to get used to this upcoming season. Curry and Thompson will go down in basketball lore together forever.
