The Portland Trail Blazers received concerning news Friday as star guard Ja Morant is reportedly facing an extended absence just four games into his first season with the franchise.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Morant suffered a Grade 2 strain of his left hamstring and is expected to miss at least four weeks.
The injury occurred during Thursday night's 124-103 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, a matchup that marked Morant's first appearance against his former team since being traded to Portland during the offseason.

Morant exited the contest midway through the fourth quarter after experiencing discomfort in his left hamstring.
The two-time NBA All-Star finished with 14 points, two rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes before being ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Following the loss, Trail Blazers head coach Micah Nori initially expressed hope that the injury was not serious. However, Friday's reported diagnosis suggests Portland will have to navigate a significant stretch of its early-season schedule without one of its most important players.
Morant arrived in Portland this summer after spending the first seven seasons of his NBA career with Memphis.
The Grizzlies traded the former No. 2 overall pick to the Trail Blazers in June in exchange for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray, giving Morant an opportunity for a fresh start.
His arrival helped reshape Portland's backcourt, joining a rotation that includes Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday and Scoot Henderson.
The Trail Blazers opened the season with three consecutive victories before suffering their first loss Thursday.
Now, Portland faces the challenge of maintaining that early momentum without Morant.

Lillard and Holiday could see increased responsibilities in his absence, while Henderson may receive additional opportunities to contribute.
The setback is particularly disappointing considering Morant's injury history and the opportunity he had to establish himself with a new franchise.
Portland's immediate focus will shift toward adjusting its rotation as Morant begins his recovery.
Although a four-week absence would keep him sidelined for much of November, his eventual return could provide an important boost as the Trail Blazers attempt to remain competitive in the Western Conference.
