Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham is not thinking about the Florida State opening right now.

During his press conference on Monday, Dillingham was asked about becoming Florida State's next head coach. The job is open after the school fired Mike Norvell on Sunday.

“I’m trying to find a way to beat Colorado,” Dillingham said.

Dillingham also said "probably not" when he was asked about Norvell joining his staff in any capacity for the rest of the season. Arizona State is currently 4-4 after losing to BYU over the weekend. Dillingham is in his fourth year as head coach at Arizona State and led the team to a Big 12 championship and a College Football Playoff Appearance in 2024.

Kenny Dillingham Is Familiar With Former FSU Coach Mike Norvell

Dillingham worked for Norvell at Florida State in 2020 and 2021, serving as the team's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The two were also at Memphis from 2016-19, as Norvell was the head coach and Dillingham held multiple roles as an assistant coach.

It would be interesting for Dillingham to return to Florida State, but he would face immediate pressure. The Seminoles are one of the prominent programs in the country with three national championships and 16 ACC championships. Novell led Florida State to an ACC title in 2023, but he also had four losing seasons.

"We have made the decision to change the leadership of our football program," Florida State President Richard McCullough said in a statement on Sunday. "We thank Mike Norvell for his commitment and service to Florida State and wish him and his family the very best. We understand the deep passion of Seminole fans and share their high expectations for this program."
