Dan Hurley couldn't stop gushing about UConn freshman Braylon Mullins after he hit a 35-foot three-pointer to give the Huskies a last-second 73-72 victory over the Duke Blue Devils.

"He’s an incredible shooter of the ball," Hurley said about Mullins. "He was playing a great game, but he wasn’t having a great 3-point shooting game and it was the perfect situation where, you know, he got the ball in rhythm from a distance that was right at the edge of his range as a shooter and he had no time to think about it."

The lasting image from the game will be Mullins' shot, but Hurley's immediate reaction following the game-winning shot is taking all of the headlines right now.

Longtime NFL rules analyst Terry McAulay made it clear Hurley should have been punished for the contact.

"Under no circumstances should behavior like this go unpenalized, regardless of the sport or game situation. Not unexpected by this coach. Deeply disappointed the official didn't do his job," he said.

"Is this the strangest non technical of all time? Quite possibly the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen a coach ever do and got [expletive] lucky to not have it cost his kids," another fan questioned.

A third wondered the same thing: "Honest question here though. This was with 0.3 seconds left? Why was this not an immediate technical & ejection???"

In the end the official opted not to call a technical, sending Hurley and the Huskies to their third Final Four in four years.
