With so much on the line for the No. 23 Oregon Ducks, they managed to keep their heads on straight and secure a massive 41-28 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes.
While they weren’t without challenges – like having to score 38 unanswered points after the Buckeyes took an early lead – they did experience a humorous moment during the satisfying win.
After a fight broke out between the players, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning simply points to the scoreboard at the Horseshoe.

The scuffle happened in the 4th quarter just as the Ducks were about to hand Ohio State their third loss of the season, the Buckeyes “sparked a brawl” near Oregon’s sideline, FanSided reported.
“As the Buckeyes players were talking trash, Dan Lanning dropped the mic going with the classic scoreboard taunt,” FanSided said.
“When Dan Lanning directed Ohio State fans to check the scoreboard, it likely wasn’t very hard for the team to find it, as the sea of Buckeyes fans who were there to start the game were gone. Oregon emptied out The Shoe with roughly 13 minutes left in the game, as the Ducks made it a miserable day for the Scarlet and Grey.”
Lanning spoke about the hostile atmosphere at the Horseshoe prior to the game on Wednesday.
“You’re traveling to a hostile environment with a team that has as much talent as anybody in the country, and they do a really good job overall as a program in all three phase,” Lanning said, according to Sports Illustrated.
“So, had to be prepared for a lot of looks, a lot of different scheme, knowing where players are at, knowing what fronts they’re in. So, it’s going to be a real challenge for us, especially with the talent that they have.”
