Drew Mestemaker threw his fourth touchdown pass of the afternoon from the Kansas State 5-yard line. Less than three minutes later, Oklahoma State was back at the same spot.

This time, receiver Wyatt Young took the ball on a sweep and threw it back to his quarterback for a touchdown.

That catch gave Mestemaker a hand in six touchdowns Saturday as the Cowboys rolled to a 66-28 win in Manhattan, Kansas. He is now the only power-conference player in the past 30 seasons to throw four touchdown passes, run for a touchdown and catch another in a road game.

Kansas State answered with a 73-yard touchdown pass from Blake Barnett to Derrick Salley Jr., but the game stayed tied for less than three minutes.

Caleb Hawkins put the Cowboys back in front with a 21-yard scoring run, then broke loose for a 37-yard touchdown on their next possession.

By the time Mestemaker found Morgan McPhaul for a 3-yard score late in the first quarter, Oklahoma State led 28-7.

Kansas State’s Logan Bartley intercepted Mestemaker and returned it 18 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter, but Mestemaker answered on the next drive with a 1-yard touchdown run.

He later found Miles Coleman for a 19-yard score with 11 seconds left in the half, sending the Cowboys into the break up 49-14.

Hawkins finished with 175 rushing yards and four touchdowns of his own, including the 5-yard catch that preceded Young’s throw to Mestemaker.

The quarterback also broke a school record he had shared with Mason Rudolph by passing for at least 300 yards in an eighth consecutive game.

A year ago, Kansas State held Oklahoma State to six points. On Saturday, Mestemaker alone accounted for six touchdowns before the fourth quarter.

The win moved the Cowboys to 6-3 and secured bowl eligibility a season after they finished 1-11.
