An NFL general manager attended Saturday's Oklahoma State game to likely take a closer look at quarterback Drew Mestemaker.
TNT revealed that New York Jets GM Darren Mougey spoke to Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Sean Brophy. It's not clear what the two were discussing, but it was likely about Mestemaker since the Jets have three top-10 picks for the 2027 NFL Draft.
ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. recently released his 2027 NFL Draft Big Board rankings and has Mestemaker ranked No. 2 behind Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Kiper says Mestemaker's "toolbox" is "pretty incredible," and he "plays with a competitive edge."

NFL Scouts and Executives Think Highly of Drew Mestemaker
Last week, ESPN spoke to 25 NFL scouts and executives about who will be the first quarterback selected in next year's draft. 17 of the scouts and executives said Mestemaker will be chosen No. 1.
"The size, the body type, and arm strength are the things that stood out to me right away," a veteran scout told ESPN. "He's got arm talent, power and accuracy."
What makes Mestemaker interesting is that he didn't start at quarterback for his high school team. At that time, Mestemaker was the backup QB and played safety and punter.
After high school, Mestemaker walked on at North Texas in 2024 as a QB before becoming the starter last year. He was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2025 after completing 68.9% of his passes for 4,379 yards, 34 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
