The Florida Gators changed quarterbacks after they got off to a slow start against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.

In the second quarter, backup QB Tramell Jones entered the game for Aaron Philo, who was dealing with a shoulder injury. Philo threw two interceptions, leading to Georgia jumping to a 10-0 lead.

Philo completed 5-of-7 passes for 26 yards and two interceptions before he was benched. Before the game, Florida head coach Jon Sumrall told ESPN's Marty Smith that there was a "real" chance both quarterbacks could play against the Bulldogs, per On3's Thomas Goldkamp.

“The chance you’ll see them both is real,” Sumrall said. “It started with health and availability at the start of the week. Both guys have some bumps and bruises. Both have been on the injury report for a reason. Have a lot of confidence in both guys to be ready when their number’s called.”

Philo, a Georgia Tech transfer, won the starting job during camp. Entering the Georgia game, Philo completed 70.5% of his passes for 1,341 yards, nine touchdowns, and three interceptions in six games.

Jones is in his second season with the Gators. In six games this year, Jones has completed 70.3% of his passes for 407 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. Florida entered Saturday's game with a 5-2 record.
