Memphis returns from a bye following a 45-7 thrashing of Tulsa that improved the Tigers to 2-0 in The American. Quarterback Brendon Lewis completes 68.2% of his throws for 1,269 yards with eight touchdowns and four interceptions, and also has 420 rushing yards with seven scores. Sutton Smith is the team’s top rusher with 454 yards and six TDs, with Cortez Braham Jr. topping the club with 24 receptions, 408 yards, and five touchdowns.
Dilfer’s final game as head coach was a 53-33 loss at Florida Atlantic last week, and he left with a 9-21 record over two-plus seasons. UAB fell behind 28-0 and never recovered while dropping to 0-3 in The American. Jalen Kitna finished with 261 passing yards and a touchdown but took five sacks, while Solomon Beebe scored two touchdowns on the ground.
Memphis has held the Battle for the Bones trophy — introduced in 2006 — since 2012, covering the teams’ last three meetings, including a 53-18 Tigers victory at Memphis last November.
This is a great college football matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
