Samford, under head coach Chris Hatcher, has dropped its first two games of the season. Last week, the Bulldogs fell 40–13 to The Citadel despite a big day from Javonte Graves-Billips, who finished with 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Samford will lean on its passing attack once again as it takes on a Big 12 opponent on the road.

Baylor, coached by Dave Aranda, comes in at 1–1 after a thrilling 48–45 double-overtime win over SMU in Week 2. Quarterback Sawyer Robertson lit up the Mustangs' defense for 440 yards and three touchdowns, proving he can take command of the Bears' offense. With playmakers like Monaray Baldwin at receiver, Baylor looks to carry momentum into this Week 3 matchup at home.
