The final College Football Playoff rankings were announced on Sunday afternoon and the college football world is already calling for change.
Indiana landed the No. 1 seed in the playoff thanks to its impressive Big Ten title victory over Ohio State, which fell from the top spot to No. 2. Georgia, fresh off of its SEC title rout of Alabama sits at No. 3 while Texas Tech earned the final bye thanks to the Red Raiders destruction of BYU in the Big 12 title game.
Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Oklahoma all earned home games as the No. 5-No. 8 seeds, respectively. Meanwhile, the biggest question marks for the committee came in the debate between Alabama, Miami and Notre Dame.

In the end, the committee placed Alabama at No. 9 and Miami at No. 10 before rewarding conference champions Tulane and James Madison with the No. 11 and No. 12 spots to round out the playoff field. That decision from the committee left Notre Dame on the outside looking in - something that sparked a demand from ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit.
"It’d be great if we had 16 teams. Maybe that’s the next answer to get this thing up to 16 teams," Herbstreit said on the rankings show.
The playoff kicks off on Friday, Dec. 19 with a rematch between Alabama and Oklahoma. The Sooners took down the Crimson Tide in a regular season meeting between the two teams.
