The Miami Hurricanes are still licking their wounds from their heartbreaking College Football Playoff national championship loss to the Indiana Hoosiers, but the team does have some good news to celebrate.
Miami came up just short of winning its first national title since 2001. The Hurricanes fell 27-21 to Indiana — a game they had a chance to win in the final minute before a Carson Beck interception sealed the win for IU.
But fortunately for Miami, it scored a major transfer portal win on Thursday, landing five-star edge-rusher Damon Wilson II from Missouri in the transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

He was the No. 6 overall player in the transfer portal according to On3’s transfer portal rankings.
Adding Wilson will help ease the blow of losing the team’s top two- edge-rushers Akheem Mesidor (12.5 sacks) and Rueben Bain Jr. (9.5 sacks) — both of which are NFL bound. The duo combined for 150 pressures, 118 hurries, and seven QB hits, according to Pro Football Focus.

Wilson, the No. 3 edge-rusher, No. 4-ranked player in Florida, and the No. 17 player nationally in the class of 2023, was a five-star pass-rusher who initially committed to Georgia. He transferred to Missouri for the 2025 season.
Wilson had a breakout year at Missouri, logging 54 pressures, 37 hurries, 9.5 tackles for loss, nine QB hits, and nine sacks this season for the Tigers.
The Hurricanes will likely start Wilson opposite fellow five-star edge-rusher Marquise Lightfoot next season.
