Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald had an emotional message to the former players after his team took down Michigan on Saturday.
During his postgame press conference, Fitzgerald reacted to the Spartans taking down the Wolverines. He said that he knows the season hasn't gone the way his team has wanted, but beating Michigan is big for the program.
"To the Spartan Dawgs, to all of our former players, and to the Spartan nation, this one's for you," Fitzgerald said. "You guys have been so welcoming to myself, our staff, our families, all of our new players since we got here last December.

"I know we haven't gotten what you want and what we want as far as wins. But I also told you when I took this job that I know that this game just means more. I thought our guys came ready to play, and we did a great job finishing the job."
Pat Fitzgerald Looks to Get Michigan State Back on Track
Michigan State defeated Michigan 15-6 to win its third game of the year. The victory snapped the Spartans' six-game losing streak, and it was the first time Michigan State has beaten Michigan since 2021.
As Fitzgerald mentioned, he joined the Spartans in December. Before joining Michigan State, Fitzgerald was the head coach at Northwestern from 2006 to 2022.
Fitzgerald replaced Jonathan Smith, who was with the team for two seasons. He is looking to get the Spartans back on track, as they haven't won the Big Ten since 2015. The 2015 season is also the last time Michigan State has reached the College Football Playoff.
