He was 2-of-5 for 10 yards with a loss of 12 yards on three rushing attempts.

Taylor was replaced by freshman Parker Puckett, who fell to LSU the week before with 16-of-26 for 121 yards and an interception. The Tigers completely shut out the Bulldogs, 31-0.

Not good news for fans of the sophomore, who started 4-0 before his injury sidelined him.

Taylor was praised by numerous professionals prior to and during the start of his 2026 season, including Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who is a Bulldogs’ alumnus.

“I love the mentality,” Prescott said about watching Taylor, according to Heavy Sports. “I love the belief in himself and what he’s allowed Mississippi State to feel again. The excitement, I’m as excited about that program as I’ve ever been since I was playing.”
