The Texas Longhorns rollercoaster ride has had its moments of doubt. And then some serious doubt. And then some more serious doubt. But following Texas’ massive win over the Missouri Tigers on Saturday, head coach Steve Sarkisian had some words for those who are screaming to get off the coaster.

After a week of criticism and “Arch Manning should nosedive into the transfer portal” talk, Sarkisian spoke his mind about all the noise surrounding his players and coaching style.

“Our guys, they’re not naïve to the noise,” the coach said according to ESPN. “For as much as I would love to say they tune it all out, and we try our best to do that, I could hear the talk getting on the plane yesterday. I could hear the talk when we got here. Nobody believed we’d win this game. Nobody thought we were going to come here and win the game, nobody thought we were tough enough at the line of scrimmage. Everybody thought we’d get pushed around.

“The DNA of this organization is mental and physical toughness. I think that poured out of our pores today in this ballgame.”

It was up in the air at first, but during the fourth quarter of Texas’ 34-20 win, quarterback Manning seemed to come alive and made some huge plays after going through some first half blues.

“I really believe there’s a toughness in our organization that is kind of undeniable,” Sarkisian said. “Right when people want to count us out, we just refuse to go away. We continue to fight, we continue to battle, we continue to practice really hard. But we’re down some really good players right now.”

Currently, Texas is missing receiver Cam Coleman, running back Hollywood Smothers and left tackle Trevor Goosby.
