During an appearance on FS1's "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" before the Cotton Bowl, Meyer suggested the Hurricanes couldn't score enough points to keep up with Ohio State.

"I just don't see Miami scoring," Meyer said. "I've told people if Ohio State scores two touchdowns, they win that game. And I still believe that."
Miami scored two offensive touchdowns and added a field goal, giving the Hurricanes three more points than the Buckeyes could muster against a fierce Miami defense. Ohio State outgained Miami in total yards 332-291, but committed two turnovers to one for the Hurricanes.
Miami was helped to 24 total points via a defensive touchdown in the second quarter via a 72-yard interception return by defensive back Keionte Scott.
The Buckeyes scored the two touchdowns Meyer predicted, but didn't earn the right to play in the CFP semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 8.
Fans on social media called out Meyer for his poor prediction.
"Lololololololol this aged Great. OSU scored the 2 touchdowns you kept harping on and yet still lost," wrote a fan.
"Urban also said IU couldn’t beat OSU in the Big Ten Championship game," remembered a poster.
"This didn’t age well," posted another.
"Lol that why he isn't coaching. Dude is a clown," suggested a fan.
"Meyer's gotta eat that one," posted another.
" Urban's predictions need work," wrote a fan.
"Hold this L, Urban," joked another.
The Hurricanes are set to play the winner of Thursday's game between No. 3 Georgia and No. 6 Ole Miss in the CFP quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl.
