Veteran wide receiver DJ Moore shined in his debut with the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, helping the team defeat the Houston Texans, recording five receptions for 100 yards and one touchdown on a team-high eight targets.

The offseason trade acquisition didn't get much of a chance at a repeat performance in Week 2 though, as Moore exited Thursday night's 41-31 win over the Detroit Lions in the second quarter due to a shoulder injury. He was later ruled out for the contest and finished the game with no catches and -1 rushing yard on one carry.

Moore's status for Week 3 vs. the Los Angeles Chargers is reportedly up in the air, but ESPN NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport both provided relatively positive injury updates on the wideout Friday morning.

The Bills are now 2-0 and will have extra rest ahead of their Week 3 game against the Chargers on Sept. 27.

Buffalo can afford to rest Moore if he's not recovered by Week 3 and hope to have him for its first head-to-head vs. the New England Patriots in Week 4 on Oct. 4.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen is playing on another level right now, looking hungry for his second MVP award in three seasons and first trip to the Super Bowl.

Allen has gone 40-for-60 passing with 582 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in the first two games this year for a stellar 125.8 passer rating. He's added 20 rushing attempts for 92 yards and four touchdowns.

The 30-year-old Allen has plenty of other weapons at his disposal if Moore were to miss time too, including 2025 Pro Bowl tight end Dalton Kincaid.

The fourth-year pro is off to a monster start in 2026 with team highs in targets (14), receptions (12) and receiving yards (225), while adding his first touchdown of the year on Thursday.

Buffalo also has the league's reigning rushing champion in James Cook, who's registered 192 yards and one touchdown on the ground via 34 carries this season.

Any Moore absence would hurt the Bills offense, but they can afford it this early in the season.
