The Dallas Cowboys are 3-5 to start the 2026 NFL season, fresh off a stunning loss at the hands of the visiting Arizona Cardinals this past weekend.

The Cowboys blew a 14-point fourth quarter lead at AT&T Stadium, allowing Cardinals backup quarterback Gardner Minshew to throw for 188 yards and three touchdowns as Arizona stormed back to force overtime.

Dallas has now lost three of its last four games, with the team's only win over that stretch coming against the injury-ridden Philadelphia Eagles.

Sunday's Week 8 loss to the Cardinals marked a new low for the Cowboys, and sparked all-time scrutiny against head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

When speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Schottenheimer took responsibility for the Cowboys' struggles.

“It’s not an effort issue. It’s an execution issue. That starts with me as the head coach," Schottenheimer said, via team insider Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I’m responsible for everything that happens here. Our execution has to be cleaner. We have to be able to put some of these close games away that we’ve unfortunately let slip away from us. And that comes down to execution.”
