Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy were enemies on Saturday night.

In a game that would send one of the NFC West teams to the conference championship, neither wanted to lose to the other.

But as the game came to a close with the Seahawks prevailing in a blowout against the injured Niners team, the two rivals reverted back to their usual selves: close friends.

Before Darnold became one of the league's top signal callers on back-to-back 14-3 teams with the Minnesota Vikings and Seahawks, he was Purdy's faithful backup during the 2023 season with San Francisco.

The two had a close relationship on the team, and Darnold has shown high praise for Purdy, as his team with the Niners helped him prepare for his rebirth as a starter these past two seasons.

As the two friends met up at midfield following the game, Purdy had a prediction for his friend: that he would go on to do something he hadn't even accomplished yet in his career.

"You're going to go win it all," Purdy said as the NFL microphones picked up their conversation.

After the two said they loved each other, they broke out into their respective teams. One to continue their quest for the Lombardi Trophy and the other left to prepare for the new season to come.

Darnold will now go on to face another NFC West team in the conference title game, the Los Angeles Rams.

Sean McVay's side eliminated Darnold from the postseason last season, and it has been theorized as the main reason why the Vikings let the former USC QB go in the offseason. Darnold then struggled in his first game against L.A. this season, throwing four interceptions in a loss, but then prevailed at home in their second meeting with a clutch overtime victory.

The winner of the NFC Championship will move on to play at Purdy's home, Levi's Stadium, against either the New England Patriots or Denver Broncos.
