The Denver Broncos are gearing up to face their AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. But, the Broncos will be without one of their rising running back stars for the matchup, and for the foreseeable future.
RJ Harvey suffered a knee injury during practice this week, and he will now be placed on the short-term injured reserve list, ESPN's Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday. This means Harvey will at least miss the next four games, but five weeks total as the Broncos have their bye during Week 10. He'll miss the matchups versus the Chiefs, the Carolina Panthers, the Las Vegas Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The earliest Harvey will be available to return will be on Sunday, Dec. 6 versus the Miami Dolphins. The Broncos will at least hopefully get Harvey back at an important time of the season.

Harvey already missed one game this season after he suffered a hamstring injury during the opening game versus the Chiefs.

Harvey stood out in his rookie season in 2025 as he recorded 146 carries for 540 yards and seven touchdowns, the most rushing scores on the Broncos last season. He also shined on the receiving end as he caught 47 passes for 356 yards and five touchdowns. He scored a total of 12 touchdowns last season, the most on the team.
Through six games this season, Harvey hasn't quite put up the numbers he did last year. He's recorded 24 carries for just 87 yards and one touchdown. On the receiving end, though, Harvey has the second-most catches (25) and yards (217). He's scored one receiving touchdown.
With Harvey out, RB1 J.K. Dobbins will continue to carry the rushing load for the Broncos. He's had 87 carries for 293 yards and three touchdowns.
