The usual case for injury reports is that if a player has a DNP later in the week, their chances of playing in games drop dramatically. For Garrett, his missing practice on Thursday may lead to missing Friday, which might all but guarantee he will not suit up.

Garrett is needed on the defense to set the tone for the game, and his missing practice should be concerning.

To make matters worse, Browns defensive coordinator just boasted on how much better the defensive line got over the offseason, and his warning might not hold much water.

Garrett is a game-changing pass rusher that opposing offenses always have to consider. Without him in the lineup, the Bengals might have a far easier time dishing the ball out to their star playmakers.

Hopefully, Garrett does not miss Friday's practice as well. Should he miss practice two days running, it might be a safe bet that the Browns will sideline him for this important Week 1 showdown.

The issue is the hip injury not being reported Wednesday, but leading to his missing practice on Thursday points to it potentially being serious. For the Browns, they had better pray that Garrett can still suit up.
