Cleveland Browns starting quarterback and rookie Shedeur Sanders is feeling the pressure as the 2025 NFL season winds down.

Although he’s shown promise since coming in midway through the season to take over the starting job for the Browns, even being the first rookie in a quarter-century to win his debut for Cleveland, it might not be enough.

The Browns are slated for another top draft pick in the NFL draft and have two first-rounders, which means they could make a move for another quarterback if they feel like Sanders or fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel aren’t the answer under center.

On Sunday, following a close loss to the Buffalo Bills, he snapped back in the post-game press conference when questioned if it was the right choice to go for it on a 4th-and-short play that ended up failing.

“I know you can’t be asking me that question, man,” Sanders replied. “Come on, man. ... If we want to change the franchise narrative, those types of things separate us. A lot of us players get these questions, and we want to work with y’all — we want to be proactive — but when questions are asked to us players, and you pin stuff against each other, it’s like come on now.”

Sanders has struggled in his past two games after a breakout performance against the Titans, when he threw for 364 yards with three touchdowns and a lone interception.

Against the Bills this week and the Bears in Week 15, though, the gap between playing against a fellow bottom-of-the-barrel team and a playoff team showed, with Sanders throwing five interceptions.

As the clock keeps ticking towards the offseason and April’s draft, Sanders will have two more opportunities to showcase his talent. He first plays his home finale next Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers before challenging Joe Burrow in Cincinnati the first week of the new year.
