The Cleveland Browns signed veteran cornerback Denzel Ward on a two-year, $62 million contract extension with $52 million guaranteed earlier this offseason, making him the highest-paid cornerback in league history at the time of his signing.
Now, Ward is putting some of that new-found money to use.
The 29-year-old cornerback has joined the ownership group of MLB's Cleveland Guardians as a minority investor. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was announced as part owner in a similar capacity back in May.

“Cleveland is my hometown. I’m so blessed to be able to show up for this city on the field and now as a part of the Guardians organization,” Ward said in a statement on Wednesday. “I couldn’t be more grateful to the Dolan family and David Blitzer for the opportunity to continue to pour into this community and give back to the best fans in the world.”
Ward, a five-time Pro Bowler, is entering his ninth NFL season with the Browns.

“We are proud to welcome him as a partner in the Guardians future.”
