Last time the Carolina Panthers clinched the NFC South title, we were debating whether the infamous Internet dress was blue and black or white and gold.
Now, a different kind of blue and black threads are returning to the playoffs. After a 16-14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday, the Panthers had to let an Atlanta Falcons-New Orleans Saints game determine its fate. A Saints win would have sent Tampa Bay to the postseason, while a Falcons victory opened the door for Carolina to claim the NFC South.

The Falcons remained in control of the game on Sunday, Jan. 4. The Saints tried to put up a last-minute touchdown, but it was not enough and the Falcons walked away helping out their division rival.
This almost wraps up the NFC side of the playoff picture. The Seattle Seahawks locked up the first seed on Saturday with a 13-3 win over the 49ers and the Panthers are the last team to join the playoff race.
Carolina’s postseason return comes a decade after its last division title, marking a dramatic turnaround for a franchise that entered the season with modest expectations.
The Panthers' opponent will be determined by Sunday's game between the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals. A Rams win would match them up with the Panthers, where a Cardinals win or tie would send the 49ers to Carolina.
