Week 7 has already delivered a prime-time thriller, with the Bears beating the Patriots 30-24 on Thursday night. Caleb Williams threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns, getting the better of Drake Maye in a matchup between two of the NFL's brightest young quarterbacks.
Now, attention has turned to the league's three remaining undefeated teams. The San Francisco 49ers are 6-0 and travel to face the Falcons in Atlanta, while the 5-0 Kansas City Chiefs visit the defending champion Seahawks. The Minnesota Vikings, also 5-0, host the Colts, who have hit the reset button after firing longtime general manager Chris Ballard.
All three teams also have a chance to reach a historic milestone the league has seen just twice before. According to NBC Sports research, only twice since the NFL-AFL merger have three or more teams remained undefeated through seven weeks. That happened in 2009 and 2015. If all three teams win on Sunday, the 2026 season would become just the third such occasion.

On both previous occasions, two of the unbeaten teams went on to reach the Super Bowl: the Colts and Saints in 2009, and the Panthers and Broncos in 2015.

The 49ers and Chiefs have already separated themselves from much of the field when it comes to Super Bowl favorites, but the Buffalo Bills remain a serious threat in the AFC thanks to Josh Allen. The Bills enter Week 7 at 5-1, with their only loss coming in Week 4 against the Patriots by a score of 29-26.
Minnesota belongs in the conversation too, particularly if its defense can keep playing at an elite level. The Broncos, Jaguars, Packers, and Lions also all already look like playoff contenders, while the Bears just improved to 5-2 with their win on Thursday night over New England. Baltimore and Pittsburgh can't be counted out yet either.
This season is still wide open, but Kansas City, San Francisco, and Minnesota all have a chance Sunday to make rare NFL history that would bode well for their Super Bowl aspirations.
