It's no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs can use wide receiving help before Tuesday's NFL trade deadline.
An analyst offered one possible fix.
ESPN's Nate Taylor set a receiving acquisition as Kansas City's deadline goal. Meanwhile, Aaron Schatz suggested Chris Godwin Jr. as the player the Chiefs should target.

"In Godwin, the Chiefs would get a veteran player who is past his prime -- just 1.2 yards per route run this season -- but could still be an asset," Schatz wrote. "Godwin is playing on a fully guaranteed $22 million salary, so this trade would involve the Bucs converting almost all of Godwin's remaining money into a signing bonus before dealing him in exchange for a draft pick. Tampa Bay would be unlikely to keep Godwin on his current contract in 2027, so if the Bucs believe they are out of contention this season, it could make sense to get something for him now."
Even at 3-5, the Buccaneers are just one loss behind the Carolina Panthers -- whom they throttled by 30 points on the road -- for first place in the NFC South. They may see themselves as contenders following back-to-back wins, but Dan Graziano still highlighted Godwin as a trade option.
"The Buccaneers haven't completed a pass in their past 15 drives, and they've won their past two games," Graziano noted. "If you don't ever need to throw it, what are you doing with all of these wide receivers?"
A star playmaker early in his career, Godwin exceeded 1,000 yards in four seasons from 2019 to 2023. The Pro Bowler played a big role in Tampa Bay's 2020 Super Bowl run, but injuries have slowed him down in recent years.

While Godwin has played all eight games this season, he's assumed a modest role in Tampa Bay's run-heavy offense. The 30-year-old has drawn 35 targets and is averaging a career-low 9.0 yards per catch without a touchdown.
He also played three games alongside undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels, and Baker Mayfield didn't complete a single pass in last Sunday's 16-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Godwin's outlook could look much rosier if he joined Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City, and the Chiefs need to ignite their passing game after consecutive road losses to the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos.
